First impressions of the GMHT 140
The new SRC mobile chipper GMHT 140 has already shown us how well this new machine works in a number of different locations.
It was powered by a tractor with a power output of at least 360 PS. We used the CLAAS Xerion VC 3800 fitted with with logging tyres and it passed the first tests, another strong point of this tractor is that the whole cab can swivel around by 180° and the driver can view and operate the machine straight on whilst reversing the tractor.
The machine reaches a speed up to 1.5 km/h in areas with a high density of plants - in areas with a lower density of plants it will even reach a speed of up to 4.3 km/h. The output of the GMHT 140 depends on the local conditions and varies between 25 to 30 t per hour.
During our first tests, the GMHT 140 was set up to achieve chip lenghts of approx. 70 mm and the chips contained hardly any fines. Immediately after weighing they could be sold on to the end user.
